Ausgangshafen:  Procida,

AIRPORT OF NAPLES CAPODICHINO

The international airport of Naples Capodichino is inside the city district, at about 7 kms from the centre. The airport is linked up to Naples Centre and to the harbour by some bus lines, which end in front of the arrivals terminal. Alternatively it is possible to take a taxi. There is no railway or subway service from the airport.

The tourist bus is named Alibus and along its route it makes only two stops: the former near the Railway Station of Naples Central and the latter in front of the harbour of Molo Beverello, where are the ferries and the hydrofoils to the islands of the gulf. The bus leaves every 30 minutes, from 6.00 a.m. up to midnight. It takes about 30 minutes to get to the harbour. The ticket costs 3,00 Euros and it is possible to buy it on the bus from the driver.

The city line service, provided by the A.N.M. (Neapolitan Company for Mobility) consist of the bus line 3S, which is active from 6.00 a.m. up to 23.00 and which leaves every 15-30 minutes, according to the time bands. The ticket is the standard one for all the city lines, called 'Unico Napoli', which in its base version costs 0,77 Euros and it lasts 90 minutes from its first use. It is not possible to buy it on bus, but it is for sale inside the airport. The bus makes all the normal stops along its route and it passes near the Central Station and near the harbour, and finally it goes back to the Airport.

There are also other bus lines that link up the airport with several localities: Sorrento (Curreri), Caserta (CTP), Avellino (AIR), Benevento (FBN). The Linee Curreri to Sorrento leave each 90 minutes from the end of line at the arrival terminal: the first run starts at 9.00 a.m. and the last at 19.00. The route is about one hour long. The other lines start from a bus stop at 300 meters from the airport entrance. Finally, inside the airport there are 6 rent-a-car agencies: Maggiore, Avis, Hertz, Europcar, Sixt, Thrifly.

FERRIES AND HYDROFOILS FROM NAPLES

The harbour of Naples occupies the northern cove in the gulf and it extends for some kms from the city centre to the east side. It is the 3rd Italian harbour for passengers' traffic (after Genova and Venice) which is concentrated in the two main central wharfs: the Molo Angioino (Angevin Wharf), destination of the cruise ships, with the famous Stazione Marittima (Maritime Station, the largest in the world with its 12 square kms of surface and the 10 landing points for ships of large and medium tonnage) and the Molo Beverello, where is the landing point of ferries and hydrofoils which link up Naples with the islands and the rest of the gulf.

It is possible to get inside the harbour only by car (private or taxi) or private buses: the city buses stop near the port and you need to cross the street to enter. There is not yet a subway station, which is under construction and will be ready for 2006, togheter with the conversion into a pedestrian precinct of the whole area and the construction of the underground passages for cars.

When you reach the harbour via the sea, you can take a taxi or to proceed by walking up to the bus stops outside the port. Below the Angevin Castle, they pass the lines to the centre or to the Railway Station. If you need to reach the Vomero or the Hospitals Area then you have to go to the opposite side of the castle. To go to the airport, the starting point of tourist bus Alibus is in front of the Maritime Station, at the end of the gardens of Piazza Municipio, while the city bus S3 by A.N.M. passes on the stop at the beginning of Via Marina, on the right of the harbour exit.

Since the harbour is located in front of the city centre, many interesting places are near and you can get there by walking: the Angevin Castle, the Royal Palace, Piazza Plebiscito with the Basilica, the Gallery Umberto I, the shopping streets as Via Toledo and Via Chiaia, The Town Hall (San Giacomo Palace), the business district with many offices and hotels, the University, and so on.
